CostPocket was founded in 2016 by Martin Sookael, who initially presented his idea to revolutionize accounting at a fintech pitching event and, to his own surprise, won!
However, after speaking with an accountant, he realized the complexity of the task. A pivotal moment came when he received feedback on his budgeting app:
“Fix the receipt collection nightmare, and you’ll solve a real problem.”
Having experienced the frustration of lost receipts himself, Martin clearly saw a problem and the opportunity. Soon he teamed up with Joonas Sernjuk and Eduard Kotov to turn this project into a company, which services over 13,000 businesses across Estonia, Latvia, Poland, and Finland today.
